Dr. Mark Brinson

The 1995 Science Research Award Winner, Dr. Brinson, is researching and boosting national awareness of the effects of rising sea levels on coastal wetlands. His other research interests include economic-based approaches to restoration and the functional assessment of ecological conditions of wetlands.

By bridging science and management, Brinson's work has improved wetland restoration in North Carolina. He continues his research and instruction at East Carolina University in the Department of Biology.
