Royal C. Gardner

Gulfport, Florida

Credit Royal GardnerProfessor Gardner, 2006 Education and Outreach Award Winner, continues teaching at Stetson University College of Law, designing courses that integrate wetland and general environmental issues into a legal framework.

By incorporating his work as the North American representative to the Ramsar Scientific and Technical Review Panel into his International Environmental Law course, Gardner has introduced his students to the inner workings of a multilateral environmental agreement and allowed them to contribute to the development of international guidance related to wetlands.  Some of his students are now submitting case-studies to be included in an upcoming Ramsar Technical Report.

Gardner has offered numerous wetlands-related presentations in English and Spanish, both in the U.S. and abroad, and continues to focus on mitigation and restoration issues, as well as the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.
