Dr. Martin B. Main

Photo with permission from Martin Main2005 Education and Outreach Award Winner, Dr. Main, continues to lead the Florida Master Naturalist Program (FMNP) Freshwater Wetlands course, a 40-hr field and classroom educational experience for adults, which has grown to include two additional 40-hr courses: Coastal Systems and Upland Habitats. The FMNP now has more than 4,000 graduates from these three conservation education programs.

Many of his students have gone on to provide education and conservation assistance to schools, natural resource agencies, and local communities.

Dr. Main's programs examine different habitats, the natural processes that make those habitats function, the plants and animals that live within them, and the conservation issues they face.
