Laurel Marcus

Photo used with permission from Laurel MarcusSince receiving the 1993 State Government Award, Ms. Marcus founded an envioronmental consulting firm, Laurel Marcus & Associates, which has completed wetland restoration plans for two urban lagoons - Aquatic Park in Berkeley and Lake Meritt in Oakland - as well as riparian restoration projects along the Russian and Napa Rivers.

She also has created a non-profit, the California Land Stewardship Institute, which focuses on long-term improvements to private agricultural lands.

One of CLSI's programs, Fish Friendly Farming Environmental Certification, was authored by Ms. Marcus and has received substantial recognition by state and federal agencies.

Her work has focused primarily on the recovery of endangered salmonids, the improvement of water quality, and the restoration of aquatic and riparian habitat.
