Photo by Dennis DemcheckMr. Pilago, 2002 Outstanding Program Development Award Winner, has led two successful supreme court decisions regarding the protection of public trust.

Serving as Vice Chair and Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Hawaii County Council, Pilago focuses on land use planning, protection of agricultural lands, open space, and cultural and natural resources, as well as the implementation of community development plans.

Pilagio's efforts have resulted in new laws in the legislature to require cultural and environmental impact statements for land use permits. He recently ran for Mayor of Hawaii County.
